The Center for Complexity Studies sees scientific research as indispensable to achieving its goals, and has assumed a position of catalyst, facilitating scientific activity. As such, the Center’s research strategy focuses on formulating relevant themes as Open Projects, and on forming and coordinating scientific teams capable of performing research on these topics. Research is conducted in collaboration with academic and private partners, and falls into the following areas of interest:
- The science of complexity (self-organization and pattern formation, chaotic systems, criticality, network dynamics, intelligent agents, fractals, etc.);
- Bio-economics;
- Prospective research within the framework of the Knowledge-based Society;
- Novel educational methods, technologies and attitudes (e-learning, content design and management, management of learning processes).
Products and services:
- Forecast, prediction and model-based analysis of social, financial, and economic systems. CCS is the designer and owner of 2 novel marketing management analysis models;
- Customized consultancy and cutting-edge studies on technological and socio-economic issues;
- Documentation, software, and/or application-specific data for the implementation of complexity-inspired methods and resources to economic and social problems.
The research activities of CCS are carried out within the framework of two permanent programs:
R&D program oriented towards the application of ideas and models from Complexity science in the fields of engineering/technology, life sciences, and the environment, aiming to improve the quality of life and human performance. The Nexus program is guided by a vision and has an evolving list of Open Projects and achievements.
2. NOEMA (Coordinator: Alexandru Caragea)
R&D program dedicated to developing complexity-specific methods, tools, and know-how for strategic implementation in economic systems (from micro to macro). Emphasis is placed on the dissemination of ideas and the cultivation of new mentalities that enable the practical realization of a new paradigm: knowledge-based development and self-organization of human society. More about Noema here.
The scientific activity of CCS is coordinated by a 5-member Scientific Council, chaired by physicist Andrei Dorobantu, Ph. D.
